Most, if not all, French NBA fans are thrilled after the San Antonio Spurs won the No. 1 pick at the NBA Draft Lottery ... giving them the opportunity to select Victor Wembanyama.

Among those happy fans is former Spurs All-Star point guard Tony Parker, who also happens to be the president of ASVEL, one of Wembanyama's current rivals in the LNB Pro A. Parker took to social media to congratulate the future No. 1 pick.

Parker played with the Spurs from 2001-18, holding a key role for the team in four of the franchise's championships and many other deep playoff runs. In a sense, Parker is now passing the torch to Wembanyama to carry the French legacy for the Spurs.

"There's a special relation between France and the Spurs because of Tony of course and also Boris (Diaw)," Wembanyama said. "I know half of the country, if not the whole country wanted the Spurs to have the first pick."

It's unclear how much of a Spurs fan Wembanyama was before, but he certainly is one now after San Antonio won the lottery.

Wembanyama will officially become a member of the Spurs on June 22, when the NBA Draft takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
