Victor Wembanyama is joining the San Antonio Spurs at the same time as Tony Parker and his coach Gregg Popovich head into the Hall of Fame.

SAN ANTONIO - With the announcement of who the presenters will be for San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and legendary point guard Tony Parker in next month's Hall of Fame Induction ceremony there's a nostalgic feeling here in San Antonio.

It seems fitting for this serendipitous organization that the "Big 3" and the one of a kind coach will now all be immortalized just as it begins the Victor Wembanyama era. I've often joked that God loves the Spurs. That opinion has only been solidified by the arrival of Wemby.

David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Parker and Manu Ginobili all will present Pop. Parker will be presented by Duncan and Ginobili. That night in Springfield on August 12 will be like musical chairs for legends.

I'll be curious as to where Wembanyama will watch. Will he be in South Texas recovering from that day's grueling workout at the team's north side practice facility? Perhaps he'll be in France soaking up his homeland one final time before the permanent move to San Antonio. Either way, I doubt we will know what he's thinking that night after he vowed to go underground for at least a month after his breathtaking performance last Sunday night in the summer league in Las Vegas. Will he realize the enormity of what he is about to embark upon? The Spurs are one of those teams in the NBA. Greatness is the expectation. Nothing less will do for a young man who's being relied upon to get this franchise back to glory.

Tim and Manu already own property on Basketball Olympus. Parker and Pop will soon join them as neighbors. Whether or not Wembanyama will one day get there is up to him. He clearly shares those lofty expectations as he's told us that championships are all that will suffice. He chose to wear jersey No. 1 for a reason. As the old legends get their due at the Hall of Fame next month somewhere down in Texas or over there in France or wherever he may be that night, Wembanyama has been passed a torch and so far he's off to a running start.
