Unfortunately, that will have to wait for another day, as the Spurs' 7-4 rookie phenom was ruled out of the game after he stepped on a ball boy's foot in warm-ups. Wembanyama got his ankle taped, but the Spurs ultimately determined that it was best to rest the big man and not risk making the injury worse.

Even with Wembanyama out, the Spurs played extremely well on the offensive end against the Mavs in the first half, as they trail 72-66 at halftime. Jeremy Sochan led the way for San Antonio with 15 points and five rebounds while shooting 6-8 overall, including a perfect 3-3 from deep.

Keldon Johnson and Makaki Branham joined Sochan as the only other Spurs to score in double figures in the first half with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Spurs shot 10-23 from 3-point range, and if that pace keeps up, they'll give themselves a chance to steal a win on the road.
