The San Antonio Spurs have a tradition of rostering some of the best big men to ever play the game of basketball ... and while he isn't the first to come to mind, LaMarcus Aldridge is on that list.

A seven-time NBA All-Star, including three appearances with the Spurs, Aldridge is one of the best and most underrated players of his generation. After playing with the Portland Trail Blazers from 2006-15, he joined the Spurs from 2015-21.

While engaging with a fan on social media, Aldridge gave a very simple answer when asked if he would return to the Spurs organization as a coach.

Aldridge's time with the Spurs will ultimately be remembered mostly for what they were not able to accomplish. It's not Aldridge's fault that former Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard wanted out and was eventually traded. But Aldridge never seemed to fit quite all the way in with how the Spurs do things. Questions about off season work ethic, concerns about getting it done when the game wasn't a blowout, especially in playoff games and his overall players first attitude left many in San Antonio relieved when he was gone.

Wherever the truth lies, it's all history now and water under the Alamo.

Perhaps Aldridge could use an opportunity to mentor Wembanyama -- who looks to play power forward as opposed to center -- to finish some unfinished business that he had in San Antonio. While his work may not result in a championship right away, it will once again showcase his loyalty to the Spurs.
