The San Antonio Spurs have been hit while they were down after a 144-119 loss to the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.

The night started off ominous as Victor Wembanyama hurt his ankle in warmups and was a late scratch. It only went downhill from there.

The Mavs led by as much as 41 points in the blowout victory and were led by Luka Doncic, who returned from his ankle injury to the tune of a triple double with 39 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Spurs struggled without Wembanyama, but got a valiant effort from Jeremy Sochan, who scored a team-high 23 points in the loss.

The Spurs will celebrate Christmas and then return to action on Tuesday when they face off against the Utah Jazz. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at the Frost Bank Center.
