Spurs Trade Idea: Heat PG Kyle Lowry to San Antonio?

Miami Heat guard Kyle Lowry could bring his championship experience to the San Antonio Spurs.

The San Antonio Spurs are looking for ways to build around Victor Wembanyama, and bringing in a veteran point guard could help the team in that matter.

NBA Analysis Network suggests that the Spurs should trade for Miami Heat point guard Kyle Lowry and a future second-round pick in exchange for Devonte’ Graham, Reggie Bullock and Khem Birch.

Lowry has helped the Heat reach back-to-back Conference Finals, but he has fallen out of the starting lineup in Miami. With rumors that the team is keen to trade for Damian Lillard, Lowry's future with the Heat is very much up in the air.

Lowry, 37, averaged 11.2 points and 5.1 assists last season, his lowest totals since the 2009-10 season when he was a backup point guard for the Houston Rockets.

In exchange for Lowry, the team would part ways with Graham, Bullock and Birch, all of whom don't have bright futures with the team moving forward.

Drafted with the No. 24 pick of the 2006 NBA Draft, Lowry has played with many talented players across generations and would be able to provide Wembanyama and the Spurs the veteran leadership necessary to navigate through some of the transitions towards an NBA career.

While Lowry is more likely to be bought out should this trade happen in order to join a team more likely to contend for a championship, the idea of the Spurs signing or trading for a veteran point guard is one that would certainly help the young San Antonio roster.
