Report: Spurs 'Listening' to Trade Offers for Cedi Osman, Doug McDermott
The San Antonio Spurs have an exciting future thanks to rookie star Victor Wembanyama, but building up the roster around him for this season and seasons to come will be vital if the team wants to eventually hang a sixth championship banner.
Though any trades this season won't turn things around and suddenly send the Spurs to the playoffs, San Antonio is reportedly starting to make the proper baby steps in the trade department.
Per reports from NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Spurs have apparently been on the trades phones a bit when it comes to shooters Cedi Osman and Doug McDermott, something that Haynes said "surprised" him.
"I was told that the Spurs are listening to offers for some of their veterans that are on expiring deals," Haynes said. "They don't have too many veterans, but they have two veterans that are on expiring deals, Doug McDermott and Cedi Osman. These are two players that would be pretty good fixtures on a team that's trying to win or contend right now."
McDermott and Osman have shined in spurts this season off the bench, though the latter has started one game.
After a solid start to the season, McDermott quieted down for a bit but has re-emerged. The 32-year-old has reached double figures in three of the last fives games he's played in, including Friday's 135-99 win over the Charlotte Hornets when he posted 14 points. He's averaging 6.4 points and 1.1 rebounds so far this season.

Osman, 28, has had a more consistent scoring impact and is a valuable piece to the current rotation.
Parting ways with either player in a trade would sting a bit, but these are the sacrifices the Spurs have to make in order to set Wembanyama up for eventual championship success.
The Spurs host the Bulls on Saturday night at the Frost Bank Center.
