The San Antonio Spurs lost their fifth straight game on Tuesday night at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite playing without Karl-Anthony Towns, the Wolves cruised to a win thanks to 23 Spurs turnovers. From those turnovers, Minnesota scored 30 points, which frustrated coach Gregg Popovich.

Vic Pop

"You can't win games when you give up 30 points off turnovers," Popovich said postgame. "That's the bottom line. Every time we've done this year, we've gotten our butts kicked. That happened again tonight. Everything else is pretty irrelevant."

Turnovers have been an issue all year long for the Spurs. They cough the ball up nearly 15 times per game. Only the Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz turn the ball over more than the Spurs.

Part of the issue is the team's lack of depth at the point guard position, but the Spurs aren't using that as an excuse.

"Of course, it's a major problem," Wembanyama said postgame about the turnovers. "It's got to start each, individual effort. We were being held accountable for our mistakes. This is the only way to get better. We have to make those mistakes to get better, but the quicker, the better."

The Spurs are aware that this season is a trial run, mistakes are okay. But it won't be like this forever, and they have to find solutions to improve, whether it be from within the team itself or from adding upgrades in the offseason.

The Spurs are back in action tomorrow night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
