San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama talked about his first experience with head coach Gregg Popovich yelling at him at a practice.

A reporter asked Wembanyama if Popovich had yelled at him yet. The rookie responded in a positive manner, as if it was a rite of passage to be yelled at by Popovich.

"Yeah, it came later than I expected but yeah, finally," Wembanyama said. "I'm glad he yelled at me."

San Antonio drafted the big man with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of France. Wembanyama played the last season of his French career for the Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A.

Last season, he averaged 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists along with 3.0 blocks. He won the scoring title and the blocks title for the LNB Pro A league. His shooting also impressed, as he shot 47 percent from the field and 27 percent from deep.

Wembanyama has been hyped to the moon, talked about as the best NBA draft prospect since the likes of Anthony Davis and LeBron James. When the NBA Draft rolled around, there was zero doubt who the Spurs would be taking with the first pick in the draft.

Whether he lives up to the hype is yet to be seen, as he has only played in a few NBA Summer League games so far.

The Frenchman will likely play again for San Antonio when the NBA Preseason begins, starting with a road matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
