San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama Making Los Angeles Clippers' Paul George Eat His Words
Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George is swallowing his pride when it comes to San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.
During a recent episode of his podcast, George admitted that he wrong for any previous doubts he might've had about Wembanyama after watching him during the preseason.
"I take back everything I said," George said. "I thought it was gonna be tougher than he's making it look. He euro'd without taking a dribble from the free-throw line, flushed it. No one's stopping that."
Wembanyama will look to give fans the real deal on Wednesday when he plays his first regular-season game at home against the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, George and the Clippers will begin their season on Wednesday as well in a home matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers.
George won't have to wait long to face off with Wembanyama for the first time this season. The Clippers, George and former Spurs star Kawhi Leonard host San Antonio on Sunday at 8 p.m. CT. If Wemby gets matched up against either one of George or Leonard, it will be must-see TV for fans that want to see the rookie sensation against two of the best players in the NBA.
The Spurs and Clippers will meet again during back-to-back games in San Antonio on Monday, Nov. 20 and Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Wembanyama already showed he can block the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson in San Antonio's 122-117 preseason win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday. Doing the same against Leonard or George certainly isn't off the table.
