San Antonio Spurs fans have obviously been jumping for joy over the past month knowing that their team would inevitably select French phenom Victor Wembanyama after winning the draft lottery.

That all became official on Thursday night, as the Spurs selected Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick.

But as if the fans weren't excited already, the could feel all the more excited.

"I'm going to give 100 percent, make all that's in my power to make this franchise win, to have impact on the franchise and the fan base and the community," Wembanyama said.

Wembanyama has always possessed a winning mentality. But it is hard not to wonder what kind of impact losing in the LNB Finals had on him. Metropolitans 92 fell in a three-game sweep to Monaco, despite Wembanyama averaging 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks during the series.

"Some players have tried to win the championship, win a ring for years and haven't made it — I don't want to be one of those," Wembanyama said. "This is going to be my goal, getting closer and closer every time to the ring and learning how to make it."

Wembanyama has just one championship title to his resume. It came during the 2022 campaign, where he helped ASVEL win their second straight championship. Now, he hopes to add to his legacy by winning some titles for the Spurs.
