Spurs Fiesta 5: San Antonio Ex Luka Samanic Signs With Jazz

Inside The Spurs identifies five of the biggest NBA storylines in addition to relevant San Antonio Spurs news and analysis.

In this story:

1. SAMANIC SIGNS WITH JAZZ

A former member of the San Antonio Spurs is getting another shot in the NBA.

According to The Athletic, the Utah Jazz is signing Luka Samanic to a 10-day contract.

Samanic has been tearing it up in the G League, averaging 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds with the Maine Celtics.

Before his G League run, Samanic played 36 games for the Spurs from March 2020 until May 2021.

2. SPURS LOTTERY ODDS

"The Spurs are mathematically locked in for 12.5 percent chances at minimum. Barring they run the table the rest of their seven remaining games and the Charlotte Hornets go 0-6, they will receive their 14 percent share."

3. FORMER SPURS GUARD DERRICK WHITE CONTINUES TO SHINE

"Drafted with the 29th pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, White was an unlikely breakout candidate. Though San Antonio is no stranger to late draft pick standouts, as Spurs legends Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and even Boris Diaw were all selected with a draft pick lower than 20 in their respective years."

4. SPURS SHARE SILLY STAT

"The San Antonio Spurs currently have the second-worst offensive rating league-wide, scoring an estimated 109.6 points per 100 possessions. As bad as they are, at one point in the NBA's history, such a stat with a similar number made for the best in a season."

5. NEXT SPURS GAME

The Spurs are back in action tonight at home against Lauri Markkanen and the Utah Jazz. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. You can watch in-market on Bally Sports Southwest or out-of-market on NBA League Pass.
