Former Phoenix Suns center Aron Baynes is set to make his return to the court

Baynes is signing with the Brisbane Bullets of the NBL (National Basketball League), according to his agent Daniel Moldovan. This will be his first taste of action since suffering a spinal cord injury during the Tokyo Olympics.

ESPN reports the deal is for two years and has an added provision that would allow him to return to the NBA.

Turning 36-years-old this year, Baynes first began his tenure in 2013 with the San Antonio, playing four season overseas prior to landing with the Spurs.

Aside from Phoenix, he also spent time with the Pistons, Celtics and Raptors.

Baynes was acquired by the Suns in a deal that sent a 2020 first-round pick to Boston. In total, he played 42 games for Phoenix and averaged 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Suns fans mostly remember his contributions when Ayton was initially suspended for 25 games at the beginning of the 2019-20 season, as Baynes was able to fill in admirably.

One of his top performances came in a March victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, where he scored 37 points and 16 rebounds. Baynes, according to Wiki, tied a franchise record for most three-pointers made in a single game (9). Baynes also joined James Harden as the only other player to record 35+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 9 three-pointers in a single game.
