Former Suns Forward Expected to Sign With 76ers

Former Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre is reportedly landing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Former Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre might have found a new home.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Oubre is expected to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers:

"Free agent G/F Kelly Oubre Jr., is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources tell ESPN. Oubre — who averaged 20 points for Charlotte last season — could get significant opportunity on the wing with the uncertainty around James Harden," wrote Woj in a Tweet.

Harden has been asking out of Philadelphia and does not appear keen on playing for the organization moving forward, so perhaps Oubre will benefit from a potential departure.

Oubre was recently with the Charlotte Hornets before he hit free agency this summer. There were reportedly a handful of teams monitoring his status near the trade deadline last year with Phoenix being one of them, according to Marc Stein. The Suns eventually made a move for Kevin Durant.

Set to turn 28 in December, Oubre first entered the league in 2015 with the Washington Wizards. He spent two seasons in Phoenix (2018/2019) where he averaged 17.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

The Suns themselves aren't actively looking to add another player to the mix after quite a busy summer, which involved trading for Bradley Beal and signing an impressive yet cheap free agency class that included Yuta Watanabe, Keita Bates-Diop and Eric Gordon.

As for where Harden may land, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently appeared on the Hoop Collective podcast and said the Los Angeles Clippers broke talks off with Philadelphia.

"They tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn't happen, and from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, 'Ok, there's no deal here, and we're going to move on,'" Windhorst said (h/t Basketball Network).

The Suns begin preseason action on Oct. 8.
