Not Everyone is Sold on New Suns Signing Bol Bol
The Phoenix Suns recently capped an impressive offseason with what appears to be the final addition to the puzzle in former Orlando Magic PF Bol Bol.
Bol is coming off his best season statistically, and could turn into a strong developmental piece in Phoenix under a roster full of stars.
The move has mostly been met with praise, though not everybody appears to be a fan.
Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently said on his podcast that Bol won't bring much to Phoenix.
“The same thing he brings to every other team - Disappointment! [Bol has] unstoppable talent, but he ain’t using it,” Arenas said.
“Have you ever seen a really beautiful girl? She's beautiful, got a bad attitude, right? She's not attractive no more because of her attitude. Bol Bol is the pretty girl with a bad attitude."
Arenas' view of the 7-2 player has contradicted some other opinions, including that of Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway Sr.:
“I think he’s better than Victor Wembanyama. Bol Bol has better physical talent and ready to play in the NBA right now than Victor is,” said Hardaway.
“A lot of people don’t understand about this signing of Bol Bol,” said Hardaway. “To me, Bol Bol, a lot of people don’t know about him. I think he’s going to have a great chance out there to show what he can do."
The Magic Insider's Jeremy Brener gave the following assessment of Bol:
"He's such a unique player that his ceiling isn't something concrete. If a 7-3 player can become an above average spot up shooter and/or improve defensively, that sounds like the makings of an All-Star.
"He lacks experience playing, both in college and the NBA, and doesn't have enough NBA mileage. Perhaps with some more seasoning, that can change. He simply needs to be more consistent."
