Report: Heat Could be Interested in Suns F Jae Crowder
Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder is no stranger to movement; he's played on seven different teams since entering the league in 2012 and hasn't been with a squad for more than three seasons.
Yet he's seemingly made an impact wherever he's landed, and despite just turning 32-years-old, Crowder still has gas left in the tank for any team looking to put themselves over the top.
Crowder's future in Phoenix after two seasons appears to be up in the air, as this offseason was filled with trade rumors involving him. From the Dallas Mavericks to the Brooklyn Nets, there's been interest in the forward.
Perhaps his latest tweet didn't help put the fire out, either.
The Miami Heat may be of interest in a reunion with Crowder.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman broke down why a deal would be tough between the two teams:
"As for the math, Jae is due $10.2 million this coming season on the final year of the three-year contract he signed when he left the Heat in 2020 free agency after helping lead the Heat to the 2020 NBA Finals. Because the Heat do not have available cap space and lack a trade exception, they would have to send out matching salary for such a trade. And that math simply is not there at the moment unless the Suns were willing to take on Duncan Robinson (who also is a needed chip for a potential bigger deal) or Tyler Herro (which is not happening). In fact, until Victor Oladipo becomes trade eligible at midseason, it would appear the numbers don’t work. "
For what it's worth, Crowder also liked a tweet that had him in a Mavericks uniform (yes, this is journalism in 2022).
As previously mentioned, the trade speculation around Crowder isn't new. Back on June 29 we wrote about two eastern conference teams interested in acquiring him.
