Jalen Williams’ Brother Could be Top Draft Pick in 2024
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams has quickly become a household name with just a season under his belt.
A Rookie of the Year runner-up and subsequent Team USA Select invite will do that. But he likely won’t be the only one in his family in the league soon enough.
Jalen’s brother, Cody Williams, is one of the more highly-touted 2024 NBA Draft prospects, and could very well hear his named called early on draft night. On Draft Digest’s 2024 big board, Williams ranks No. 3.
Hailing from Perry high school in Gilbert, Arizona, Cody stands at 6-foot-8, 180 pounds. He’s a modern-esque forward with a connective skillset. He has a blend of handle, speed and fluidity, a believable game from outside and should hold his own defensively with his instincts and length.
Next season, he’ll debut for Colorado.
Oddly enough, Cody could legitimately fill some much-needed holes in the OKC roster, were he to be drafted there. With good positional size as a forward, as well as unselfish and advanced passing chops, he fit the team’s philosophy well.
Should the Thunder take a jump in the standings next year, due to the addition of Chet Holmgren, Vasilije Micic, Cason Wallace or more, they might just be out of range to draft him.
One of Oklahoma City’s best chances at landing Cody would be through the Houston Rocket's 2024 first round selection, which could convey should the team land outside of the top four. With the additions of Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Amen Thompson and more, that could very well happen for Houston.
For now, we’ll sit back and await Cody's collegiate debut and the potential for Jalen to see action in FIBA.
