Doubtful to play Thursday night, Anthony Edwards will likely be watching a new-look starting five when the Timberwolves host the Utah Jazz at Target Center.

According to Chris Hine of the Star Tribune, Edwards did not participate in the morning practice and Troy Brown Jr. appeared to be in line to start in his place. If that's the case, the starting lineup would look like this:

  • Mike Conley
  • Troy Brown Jr.
  • Nickeil Alexander-Walker
  • Karl-Anthony Towns
  • Rudy Gobert

Brown Jr. stepped up big time after Edwards suffered a right hip pointer in a hard fall during the third quarter of Tuesday's win over the Thunder. Brown Jr., in his first season with the Timberwolves, scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, hitting a pair of clutch 3-pointers and pressure free-throws to keep OKC at bay.

Alexander-Walker has been starting the past few games in place of Jaden McDaniels, who is considered week-to-week with a right ankle sprain. The only other logical starting lineup would be swapping Kyle Anderson for Alexander-Walker.

The Jazz are also dealing with the injury bug as leading scorer Lauri Markkanen did not join the team on the road trip to Minnesota because of a strained hamstring. Without Markkanen, the Jazz rolled out a starting lineup featuring rookie guard Keyonte George, Jordan Clarkson, John Collins, Simone Fontecchio and Omer Yurtseven.

That starting lineup lost to the extremely shorthanded Grizzlies 105-91 on Wednesday, so they'll be tested on the second night of a back-to-back with air travel.

The Jazz and Timberwolves tip off inside Target Center at 7:10 p.m. CT.
