Andrew Wiggins Breaks Silence on Absence From Warriors
After an extended personal absence, Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins addressed the media before Tuesday night's game against the OKC Thunder. Wiggins is not available to play in this game, as the Warriors still need to ramp up his conditioning level, but he is back around the team and will be on the bench.
This is great news for the Warriors, as it paves the way for Wiggins to be available for the playoffs, which is when they need him most. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Wiggins said, "When you’re in a certain situation and your family needs you and requires your attention and your love, that’s my first priority… Family is always first for me."
On the situation that kept him away, Wiggins said, "I'd rather just keep that private, for me and my family, and the people close to the family that need to know."
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently mentioned that Wiggins had been doing individual workouts, and when asked about this, the forward said, "I got a lot of shots up. I lifted a couple times. Moreso, I was on the court, getting a lot of work in. Not too much conditioning, but it was in the workout."
Finally, Wiggins thanked the Warriors and their fans for supporting him, saying, "Thank you for all the love and support I had and my family had. I appreciate it. You guys are the best fans in the world."
