During a recent episode of the It Is What It Is podcast, Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard named Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Russell Westbrook as the three best point guards he has faced during his career.

Having faced Curry and the Golden State Warriors on several occasions, Lillard knows how difficult he is. Also facing Westbrook a lot during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Lillard saw him several times during his peak. As for Irving, he and Lillard have spent most of their careers in different conferences, but have still had some fun battles.

With it being the NBA offseason, these major lists and rankings always become fun debates. Hearing the perspective of a star like Lillard adds a new element to these discussions, because he has actually faced these players on the big stage. One of the best point guards of this generation, Lillard has had some incredible battles with Curry, Westbrook, and Irving.

While Curry and the Warriors have regularly gotten the better of Lillard and the Trail Blazers, there is still a lot of mutual respect there between the two point guards. Now requesting a trade to the Miami Heat, Lillard may be seeing less of Curry next season if he ends up in the Eastern Conference; however, that deal still seems to be up in the air.
