During an episode of The Shop before the 2022-23 NBA season began, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said, "The [Sacramento] Kings stink" when speaking about his inability to get up for games against bad teams. Now set to face Sacramento in the first round, Green recently addressed his preseason comments.

"You know me, I’ll always stand on everything I say," Green told Chris Haynes on the This League podcast. "The Kings have sucked. Since I’ve been in the NBA, they have sucked. Have not made the playoffs since I’ve been in the NBA. So it’s not like some bulletin-board disrespect. It’s actually a fact. They are who [the Warriors] were when I came into the NBA. They’re changing it."

Green added additional context to his preseason comments, saying he actually gave Sacramento some respect with their addition of former Warriors coach Mike Brown.

"I also said on that episode now that the Kings have Mike Brown, I expect them to change," Green said.

Referencing an episode of The Draymond Green Show that featured Kings guard De'Aaron Fox, Green recalled a conversation the two players had about Fox leading Sacramento to the playoffs after being handed the keys to the team. While there was that one disrespectful remark made by Green about Sacramento before the season, the Warriors forward made sure to revisit the entire context of those comments, as well as the props he gave the Kings before the season as well.

"I give credit where credit is due," Green continued. "What Mike Brown has gone to Sacramento and done is absolutely amazing. I expect him to continue taking that franchise upward in the right direction. I give them their props. They’re doing a great job."
