Injury Report: Warriors Announce Andrew Wiggins' Status vs. Timberwolves
In a personal absence that has now extended much longer than initially anticipated, Andrew Wiggins remains out for Sunday's game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wiggins' first absence, for what is being called a family matter, came in Golden State's final game before the All-Star break. At that time, the expectation was that Wiggins would be back for the first game after the break. Now set to miss his fourth-straight game, that is obviously not the case.
With Wiggins out, the Warriors also remain without Steph Curry as well. The superstar point guard is making good progress towards a return, but still has some time before his next reevaluation which will come next week. This will be a pivotal moment in Golden State's season, and could very well determine their playoff chances.
While Curry's absence has understandably received the most attention, Wiggins missing four-straight games really hurts the Warriors as well. The team is currently 1-2 over their last three games, each of which came without Wiggins. This will be the 24th game Wiggins has missed this season, which is uncharacteristic for him, as he has been an ironman for most of his time with the Warriors.
Above everything else, the hope right now is that everything is okay with Wiggins and his family. There is clearly something going on if he has to miss this much time, which is always top priority.
