John Collins Unleashes Wild Take About Steph Curry vs. Trae Young
During a recent interview with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Bally Sports, Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins shared an incredibly hot take about Trae Young vs. Steph Curry, saying that Young is a better playmaker and isolation scorer that Curry:
"Trae has definitely pushed himself into his own category," Collins said. "I can definitely say for sure that he’s a way better playmaker than Steph and he’s a better isolation scorer, right? But obviously, there’s different things that he does better and Steph does better. I just feel like, at this point in the league, they do have similarities in the oohs and the ahhs when they hit a crazy three, cross somebody up. I can say that they are similar [that way]. But be that as it may, Trae Young is his own person and his own guy stepping into his own in the league. It’s great to be compared to a guy like that, [but] I feel like he wants to make his own name."
It is hard to quantify Curry‘s playmaking ability with raw numbers, as Golden State‘s motion offense does not always have him dominating the ball in a primary playmaker role. That said, anybody who actually watches Curry, knows how incredible he is at making plays for himself and others.
The level of defensive attention that Curry faces is unmatched by anybody else in the NBA, especially at the guard position. His ability to navigate this attention, and dominate despite it, is what separates him from anybody else.
