NBA Legend Believes Jamal Murray is Better Than Steph Curry

NBA legend Paul Pierce shared a wild take following Game 4 of the NBA Finals

While Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray is amidst a historically great playoff run, NBA legend Paul Pierce may have taken things too far with his take following Game 4 of the Finals. After the Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat to take a 3-1 series lead, Pierce said Murray is the best point guard in the NBA:

This Tweet of course suggests that Murray is better than Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry, which would be a classic case of recency bias. While it's important to acknowledge what Murray is doing, placing him above Curry as the league's best point guard would be taking things too far.

While his team was eliminated in the second round by the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry finished this postseason run averaging 30.5 PPG, 6.1 APG, and 5.2 RPG, which includes a historic Game 7 performance vs. the Sacramento Kings where he went for 50 in the close-out effort.

Murray, who as previously mentioned is having a historically great run, is averaging 26.7 PPG, 7.1 APG, and 5.5 RPG. While simply comparing numbers is not the best way to evaluate the level two players are at, it's important to note that this production from Murray is something Curry has matched and exceeded several times in the postseason, including just last season when he won his first Finals MVP award.

While Murray has been incredibly special this postseason, and should receive immense recognition, Pierce placing him above Curry is case of recency bias.
