Patrick Beverley Reacts to Viral Steph Curry vs. Magic Johnson Take
When Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry declared himself the best point guard ever, the debate immediately reignited on social media and talkshows. While Curry was asked the question, and didn't go out of his way to give himself this crown, he did ultimately place himself atop that conversation.
Reacting to this hot topic, NBA analyst Nick Wright said there will be another Steph Curry before there is another Magic Johnson. This take surfaced on social media, and Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley quickly shut it down:
This is an interesting conversation, because both Curry and Magic are truly unlike anything the game has ever seen. With his passing and size, Johnson played point guard unlike anybody who came before him, and anyone who has come after him. Doing it in his own way, Curry has also dominated the game in ways nobody has ever done. While Wright's argument was that another Curry will come along before another Magic does, the likeliest scenario is that the NBA never sees another player who can do what either legendary point guard did.
Dominating the NBA in much different ways, both Curry and Magic helped push the game of basketball forward. While fans will always engage in all-time ranking debates, it's sometimes important to just appreciate greatness without feeling the need to compare.
