Steve Kerr Gives Major Andrew Wiggins Update Before Warriors vs. Pelicans
Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins is missing his 20th-straight game on Tuesday night as he tends to a family matter. While it is still unclear if Wiggins will return at some point this season, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr gave a major update before Tuesday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans, saying that Andrew Wiggins has still been working out on a daily basis.
While the Warriors will not know his conditioning level until he returns to the team, this at least indicates that Wiggins has taken it upon himself to stay in shape while away from the Warriors, which makes a potential return much more likely. Had Wiggins been away from basketball entirely during his absence, a return would be almost impossible, as he would have to ramp up his conditioning in a short amount of time. The fact that Wiggins has been working out on his own shows that the possibility of a return is still in play.
This of course does not mean that Wiggins will return, but it means that a return is much more likely than if he had not been working out. Nobody knows exactly what is going on with Wiggins and his family, but the two-way wing has the support of his teammates and organization. Everybody wants Wiggins back in the mix, but they also want him to do what is best for him and his family, as that always comes first.
The Warriors are playing a big game against the Pelicans on Tuesday night, as they look the climb back out of the play-in picture.
