USA Basketball suffered another disappointing FIBA World Cup loss on Sunday, falling to Canada in the bronze medal game. The loss sends Team USA home with nothing to show for their World Cup run, which is undoubtedly a disappointing outcome. Speaking with reporters after the game, Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr revealed the reason for USA's disappointing run.

"We just didn't defend well enough against Germany [in the semifinals] or against Canada, and that's the bottom line," Kerr said, via ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "Every year when you try to build a team, you try to build the best two-way team you can and be able to get stops and score, and everybody's trying to do that."

Kerr continued, saying, "We've really studied everything about FIBA and the history of United States basketball when we've won, what has been the reason and when we've lost what has been the reason. So we study all that stuff, and what it comes down to for us in this tournament, we put ourselves in a great position. We got to the semifinals and were right there."

While much has been made of Team USA's roster, which was far below the best representation of USA basketball, their execution in this tournament was poor. Kerr emphasized that, especially on the defensive end, which was USA's biggest issue.
