Warriors Key Player Makes Contract Decision
The Golden State Warriors have had some very difficult decisions to make this off-season, starting with trading Jordan Poole. Now, it looks like they'll have even more, as Donte DiVincenzo has declined his $4.7 million player option with the team. He will now enter unrestricted free agency, according to Kenda Andrews of ESPN.
In all likelihood, someone will offer DiVincenzo some good money this off-season. This season, he put up 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.3 steals on 44/40/82 shooting. In the playoffs, it decreased dramatically: 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 0.8 steals on 38/34/67 shooting. If there was anything that the Warriors desperately needed during the playoffs, it was better guard play from their bench.
One question mark that many have been wondering is if Chris Paul will be coming off the bench with the Warriors. Now that the team will likely lose both of their backup guards Jordan Poole and Donte DiVincenzo, it seems more likely that Chris Paul will be coming off the bench for the team.
The next big domino for the Golden State Warriors is Draymond Green. While it's heavily implied that he'll return to the Warriors, he's still going to be enticed by free agency. Teams like the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons can throw all the money in the world at Green, and it's still going to be hard to turn down. One thing is for sure, the Warriors will be a different team next season.
