A recent report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype listed some of the NBA veteran free agents the Golden State Warriors have recently worked out, which included Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Dewayne Dedmon, Will Barton, Jaylen Nowell, Stanley Johnson, and Derrick Favors.

While each of these players could be intriguing for different reasons, former 3rd overall pick Derrick Favors stands out as a potential depth big for Golden State. Favors is a 12-year NBA veteran, and last played for the OKC Thunder in the 2021-22 NBA season. While he is of course not the player he once was, Favors just turned 32 years old, and could potentially provide Golden State with some insurance up front.

The Warriors will primarily rotate Draymond Green and Kevon Looney at the five next season, but adding another big for foul trouble or possible injury insurance is never a bad idea. In his last NBA stint, Favors appeared in 39 games for the Thunder, and averaged 5.3 PPG and 4.7 RPG in 16.7 minutes per contest. A possible roster spot on the Warriors for Favors would of course not be dependent on his per game averages, but rather his ability to still defend and rebound at an adequate level for an insurance big.

It will be interesting to see how the Warriors round out their roster, but it's clear they're looking at several veteran options.
