The Washington Wizards' hopes of having a player on this year's NBA All-Star roster have long disappeared.

Now, their only shot is that Wizards rookie guard Bilal Coulibaly gets into the Rising Stars game and flashes some of that future potential we've seen at times this season.

Wizards Mood Board Drip

For Washington fans wanting a rooting interest in the All-Star festivities, and build up to them, they should have their eyes turned toward former forward-center Kristaps Porzingis, now with the Boston Celtics.

In the second round of updates for fan-voting Porzingis is in sixth place in Eastern Conference frontcourt votes.

His 434,044 votes have him trailing teammate forward Jaylen Brown by over 300,000, however, making it a tall task to overtake him or anyone else above him on the list.

Fellow Celtics star forward-guard Jayson Tatum is essentially a lock to make the All-Star roster and is currently third in the conference voting.

In a Christmas Day projection, Bleacher Report's NBA Staff predicted Porzingis would be the seventh frontcourt player in the East, leaving him just outside of making the roster in favor of Brooklyn Nets guard-forward Mikal Bridges.

Currently, Bridges is about 136,000 votes behind Porzingis.

An All-Star selection this year would be the second of his career after making the team in the 2017-18 season, his final one for the New York Knicks.

This season compared to that one Porzingis' numbers are up in just about every category but blocks per game (1.5) which is at his lowest rate since the 2020-21 NBA Season.

Unfortunately for Wizards fans that's where we are right now with this team and the NBA All-Star Break coming up. If you don't have a hometown guy to vote for, maybe cast your ballot for one who used to play here, still has friends here, and is certainly worth rooting for while you wait for Washington to produce another All-Star of its own.
