Kyle Kuzma’s Message To DC
The Washington Wizards are re-signing Kyle Kuzma. With all of the uncertainty around what this franchise rebuild will actually look like, this was news that surely made Wizards fans very happy.
The NBA Champion shared with Wizards media during his end of season press conference that staying in Washington was 100% an option. He went on to say that he’s had a great time here (in Washington) and that he has developed his game tremendously here. Kuzma also stated that he would “be a fool” to say that Washington was not an option for him.
Inside the Wizards Staff Writer Carita Parks captured the moment here:
Kyle Kuzma had this to say to DC once the news officially broke that he was remaining with the Wizards.
Kuzma played in 64 games last season for the Wizards and 66 the season prior. Kuzma came to the Wizards via trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. The details of the trade were:
Russell Westbrook, 2024 second round pick, 2028 second round pick to the Lakers for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and a draft pick.
Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins made it clear on draft night that the franchise was not done in making moves to begin the rebuild process. Kuzma acknowledging that the process may take some time is a good sign that everyone understands where the Wizards are today and what it may take to get to their ultimate goal of being a consistent playoff contender.
Kyle Kuzma is the next leader for the Washington Wizards and let's never forget that he told the coaching staff that the offense should run through him.
