The New England Patriots and cornerback Darrelle Revis reached agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter.

Earlier Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Revis after failing to find a trade partner for the five-time Pro Bowler.

The New York Jets were also reportedly interested in reuniting with Revis, where he spent his first six seasons in the league before being traded to Tampa last offseason.

Last season, Revis played all 16 games and had 50 combined tackles and two interceptions for the Buccaneers.
