The Detroit Lions have activated 2013 first-round pick Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah from the physically unable to perform list, the team announced Tuesday. The Lions selected Ansah out of BYU with the fifth pick in last year's draft.

The Lions selected Ansah out of BYU with the fifth pick in last year's draft. In his rookie season, Ansah made an immediate impact, starting 12 games, recording eight sacks and forcing two fumbles.

Ansah had not been practicing with the team while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. On the Lions' first depth chart, he is still listed as the starter at defensive end, alongside fellow former first-round picks Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh.
The Lions' next preseason game is Friday, Aug. 15 at Oakland.
