NFL Week 1 injury roundup: Luke Kuechly, T.Y. Hilton, others go down
Across the 13 Week 1 games played Sunday, there were several notable players who sustained injuries. The Jets-Browns game saw a few key starters go down, while the Panthers lost an All-Pro.
• Panthers All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechlyleft Carolina’s win over Jacksonville with a concussion. He had to be helped off the field after hitting his head trying to make a tackle in the second quarter.
• The New York Jets sustained two injuries on defense in their win over the Browns. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie went down with a non-contact knee injury, while Lorenzo Mauldin was hospitalized after a head/neck injury.
• In the same game, Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCownleft with a concussion in the first half. He was replaced by Johnny Manziel.
• Colts wideout T.Y. Hiltoninjured his knee against the Bills and was taken for X-rays. He did not return. Head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters after the game that X-rays on Hilton’s knee were negative. Owner Jim Irsay said Hilton had a bruise and will miss a few weeks.
• Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jacksoncame up lame after a deep ball from Kirk Cousins and left with a hamstring injury.
• Rams defensive lineman Eugene Sims was helped off the field with an apparent knee injury late in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks after sacking Russell Wilson.
• Dolphins tight end Dion Sims left Miami’s win against Washington with a concussion.
• Jaguars OT Luke Joeckel injured his ankle against the Panthers and returned, only to exit again in the third quarter.
• Panthers OT Daryl Williams injured his knee and sat for the remainder of the game, the team announced.
