Giants’ Victor Cruz ruled out against Bills with calf injury
New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin informed reporters of the decision Thursday. Cruz has been rehabbing a calf injury and suffered a setback during practice Wednesday, which was his first since Aug. 17. He participated in individual drills on a limited basis, but was forced to cut his workout short after his left calf began to bother him. There is no timetable for his return.
Cruz, 28, had been publicly confident he'd be able to play against Buffalo. The 2012 Pro Bowl selection has been hampered by injury since tearing his patellar tendon last Oct. 12 in a game against the Eagles, which sidelined him for the year.
The Giants are 1–2 after last week's win over Washington. Emergent star Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle will continue to shoulder the receiving load in Cruz's absence.
