Report: Panthers DE Jared Allen likely out for rest of playoffs with foot injury
Panthers defensive end Jared Allen has a foot injury that is likely to require season-ending surgery, Jonathan Jones of The Charlotte Observer reports.
There is “a sliver of hope” that Allen could be able to play through the injury but the team won’t know for sure until Allen has an X-ray on Monday, Jones adds.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Allen “broke a small bone” during Sunday’s game against the Seahawks and continued playing. Allen plans to keep playing through the injury, Rapoport adds.

The team did not indicate during the game that Allen had been injured.
Allen was acquired in late September in a trade with the Bears after Charles Johnson was placed on short-term injured reserve. He has two sacks in 13 games since the trade.
The Panthers sacked Russell Wilson five times on Sunday but Allen failed to record a tackle.
Carolina will host the Cardinals in the NFC championship game next week.
