The Eagles have released wide receiver Riley Cooper, the team announced on Monday.

Cooper caught just 21 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns last season, and was owed $4.5 million next season. On the heels of a controversial video surfacing in which Cooper used racial slurs, he signed a five-year, $22.5 million deal under former coach Chip Kelly in 2014, which paid him $8 million guaranteed up front.

The six-year veteran was a fifth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2010 out of Florida and totaled 319 catches for 2,418 yards and 18 touchdowns during his tenure.
