Fantasy Football: Week 8 TE Rankings

Kevin Hanson joins SI for the 2019 season. His fantasy rankings have placed him in the Top 20 in each of the past two seasons among all the industry experts tracked by FantasyPros.com, and he has been in the Top 25 in six of the past eight years.

TE Start of the Week: Austin Hooper, Atlanta Falcons (vs. SEA)

No tight end has scored more fantasy points (half-PPR scoring) this season than Atlanta’s Austin Hooper. Performing on a week-in, week-out basis, Hooper also has plenty of weekly upside.

Averaging 7.86 targets per game, he has a minimum of four catches every week this season. In addition, he has at least 50 yards in six of seven games this season. Hooper has scored four touchdowns in his past five games and has a pair of 100-yard performances over the past month.

Even though the Falcons offense struggled mightily last week, this week’s game has the highest over/under of the week. In addition, the Seahawks have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.

TE Sit of the Week: Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (vs. DEN)

Earlier in the week, I had Tampa’s O.J. Howard listed here, but he was ruled out (hamstring) for Week 8.

Jack Doyle has three or more receptions in four consecutive games, but he hasn’t reached 25 receiving yards in his past three games. In addition, he was a late addition to the injury report as he was limited at Friday’s practice.

The Broncos have been top-10 in terms of limiting opposing fantasy tight ends this season.
