NFL Has Tentative Date for 2023 Schedule Release, per Report

One of the most anticipated days in the NFL offseason occurs when the next season’s schedule is released for all 32 teams, allowing fans to begin making travel plans to see their favorite matchups.

The date for the schedule release typically doesn’t get announced until a couple months into the offseason, and the date often lands sometime in May.

For the 2023 season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the tentative date for the schedule release is Thursday, May 11.

The official date will be announced after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL scheduling guru Howard Katz meet on Monday to discuss scheduling for the upcoming season.

Schefter noted that two NFL stars played a crucial part in the league’s decision for the schedule release date. The league reportedly wanted to wait until newly acquired Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’s trade was finalized and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s contract situation was sorted out. Now, the league feels comfortable moving forward with the schedule release, according to Schefter.
