As the 3–11 Patriots suffer through their worst season under Bill Belichick, rumors are swirling about the 71-year-old coach’s future with the team.

Fans and pundits wonder whether Belichick, who sits 27 regular-season wins behind all-time leader Don Shula, will get a chance to break the record with New England. Indeed, a recent report from NBC Sports Boston insider Tom Curran stated that the team already has decided to move on from Belichick after the season. Belichick was asked about the report last week but deflected the question.

But the storyline isn’t going away, especially in light of the Patriots’ 27–17 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, and he was asked again about his future with New England during his weekly appearance on Boston’s WEEI-FM on Monday morning.

Belichick provided a very on-brand response, this time bringing team owner Robert Kraft into the conversation.

“I think any questions you have for Mr. Kraft, you should ask Mr. Kraft,” Belichick told WEEI. “I mean, I don’t know. I don’t sit around and listen to talk radio and read stuff every day. I’m going to do what I do and prepare the team to get ready for Denver.”

Belichick noted that he’s had “open conversations” with the team about the reports regarding his future. Otherwise, he’s remained mum publicly about the whole situation.

The Patriots play the Broncos (7–7) in Denver on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
