49ers’ Jauan Jennings Predicts Eagles’ Downfall in Cruel Shot Fired at Wide Receiver Corps
One week into the 2023 postseason, and two NFC juggernauts are already at each other’s throats.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings took a calculated shot at the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of Philly’s wild-card round game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing shade at the entire Eagles’ wide receiver unit sans A.J. Brown.
Jennings reposted a graphic of Jalen Hurts and Quez Watkins on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, and even tagged Hurts in his caption.
Jennings wrote, “Jalen Hurts prolly wishing he had me. Who else they got at WR? Because I truly don’t know. Is Number 6 playing? Sheesh I hope so or it’s over for them folks.”
Brown has already been ruled out of Monday’s showdown. DeVonta Smith—the No. 6 that Jennings was referring to—will be the Eagles’ top threat at wide out against the Bucs.
Add Jennings’s latest social media activity to the growing archive of trash talk between the 49ers and Eagles in recent history. Eagles fans were quick to point out Jennings’ unimpressive 2023 stats: 19 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown. Jennings still got his point across, though, as Monday night's matchup will reveal whether the Eagles’ offense can find a spark without its top wide receiver.
The Eagles will play the Bucs at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. The 49ers are currently resting on a bye.
