Amon-Ra St. Brown Salutes Lions Fan in Hospice Care Who Also Dyed Hair Blue
The Detroit Lions have taken the NFL by storm this season, with coach Dan Campbell leading a wholesale turnaround that culminated in a 24–23 wild-card win over the Los Angeles Rams that moved fans to tears.
As the Motor City embraces its ancient, oft-cursed football team, All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has become a symbol of the Lions' high hopes by dying his hair blue.
He is not the only one to do that.
On Thursday, WWJ-TV in Detroit picked up a story about Larry Benjamin—a Detroit fan in hospice care who dyed his hair blue in imitation of St. Brown.
St. Brown saluted Benjamin's efforts on social media.
Asked about his blue dome Thursday, St. Brown announced his intent to keep his hair colored going forward.
“I’ve got the blue now, I’m rocking with it,” he said. “Shoot, I’m gonna keep going with it ... until the wheels fall off.”
St. Brown, seemingly feeding off the hair's good vibes, caught seven passes for 110 yards Sunday in the Lions' triumph.
