Bengals Take Michigan Safety Daxton Hill With 31st Pick in 2022 NFL Draft

Cincinnati always planned on adding a defensive player in round one.

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals took Michigan safety Daxton Hill with the 31st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hill, 21, is considered one of the top defensive backs in this draft class. The Bengals’ were hoping to add a playmaker on defense in round one.

Cincinnati’s biggest offseason need was offensive line, but they added three starting linemen in free agency, including star right tackle La'el Collins, which allowed them to focus on their defense.

Hill had 69 tackles (4.5 for loss), 11 passes defensed and two interceptions in 14 games for the Wolverines last season.

He joins Chidobe Awuzie, Mike Hilton, Jessie Bates, Vonn Bell and Eli Apple in the Bengals’ secondary.
