DJ Reader Not Expected to Return For Bengals' Primetime Showdown With Browns

Cincinnati's star defensive tackle isn't expected to return this week.

CINCINNATI — Some were hoping that DJ Reader would be able to return for the Bengals' Week 8 matchup against the Browns, but that isn't going to be the case. 

The star defensive tackle got injured in the Bengals' Week 3 win over the Jets.

"Don't anticipate that happening this week, activating him on the 21-day window," Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday. "It doesn't look like it'll be this week."

Reader, 28, has 10 tackles in three games. He's the heart of the Bengals' defensive line. 

Guys like B.J. Hill and Jay Tufele have stepped up with Reader injured. 

Taylor wasn't ready to rule Reader out through the Bengals' Week 10 bye, but it sounds like that could be the case as he continues to recover from a torn MCL.
