Has Tee Higgins Played His Last Snap for the Cincinnati Bengals?

The 24-year-old is inactive for Sunday's season finale.

CINCINNATI — Tee Higgins is inactive for Sunday's season finale against the Browns. Has he played his last down as a Bengal?

Higgins, 24, is in the final year of his contract. The Bengals could place the franchise tag on him, which will be worth roughly $21 million.

In a perfect world, they would sign him to a long-term extension before the franchise tag deadline in March.

Higgins finished 42 receptions for 656 yards and five touchdowns this season. He dealt with various injuries throughout the year, but would be a top wide receiver on the free agent market if the Bengals didn't sign or tag him.

The Bengals know how valuable Higgins has been to their offense over the past four seasons. It would be surprising to see them let him walk.

They were faced with a similar situation with Jessie Bates after the 2021 campaign. They couldn't find enough common ground for an extension with Bates, but they did use the franchise tag on him and he was on the team in 2022.

Will they do the same with Higgins? That's the biggest question of what will be a busy offseason for Duke Tobin, Katie Blackburn and the Bengals' front office.
