CINCINNATI — Former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer could return to the NFL in the near future.

Zimmer is meeting with the Dallas Cowboys about their defensive coordinator job according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

He previously worked for the Cowboys from 1994-2006. Zimmer was the Bengals defensive coordinator from 2008-13. His success in Cincinnati helped him becoming the Vikings head coach in 2014. He was in Minnesota for eight seasons and hasn't coached in the NFL since 2021.

With former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in Washington, the Cowboys are looking for his replacement. It sounds like Zimmer could be back in the NFL in the near future.
