Award Season: Will Bills QB Josh Allen Attend the Oscars With Hailee Steinfeld?
It seems Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen knew he was not going to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award on Thursday. He feigned concern about falling short while attending a trivia night that he chose over the NFL Honors Ceremony.
He may not get to play hooky twice in one offseason.
On March 10, the 2024 Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre. Among the attendees will be actress Hailee Steinfeld – Allen’s girlfriend.
Steinfeld starred in “Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse” as Gwen Stacy. The movie was nominated for best animated feature, in large part due to its unique style, eye-capturing graphics, and enthralling story.
Steinfeld is expected to attend, but her boyfriend? We’ll have to wait and see.
On “Up & Adams,” Kay Adams asked the Bills quarterback if he’ll be wearing Enchanté – a friend’s clothing line that Allen has worn to his games – at the Oscars.
“I may,” Allen said, keeping his status and his fashion in limbo.
Allen came in fifth place for the MVP award on Thursday. However, he was the only other candidate other than Baltimore Ravens quarterback – and now two-time MVP – Lamar Jackson to receive a first-place vote.
The “rogue” vote enraged some, angry at the voter for spoiling Jackson’s attempt at becoming a twice-unanimous winner. Despite the outrage, a vote for Allen was reasonable, though unpopular, especially given how weak this year’s class of finalists was.
Fifth Place?! Why NFL MVP Voters Wronged Josh Allen
It was Allen’s third time as an MVP finalist. He finished as the runner-up in 2020 and third place in 2022. He also has two Pro Bowl selections and a second-team All-Pro honor to his name.
Allen didn’t take home the hardware on Thursday, but there’s a solid chance he’ll be in Los Angeles when Steinfeld learns the fate of her film.
