Bills BREAKING: Super Bowl Sack Artist Leonard Floyd Signing with Buffalo
Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane has insisted all offseason long that we shouldn't look for him to execute another Von Miller-style "splash move'' in free agency.
Brandon Beane fibbed, as early Monday morning comes the news that Buffalo is in the process of agreeing to terms with the former Los Angeles Rams' standout pass-rusher Leonard Floyd. ... and yes, it is "like the Miller deal'' in the sense that he comes over from the Rams ... and in the sense that he is a recognized sack artist.
Miller of course received a monster deal to make the move a year ago and is now rehabbing with hopes of appearing for the 2023 Bills in Week 6. Maybe as an insurance policy there along comes Floyd, who according to NFL Network is getting a one-year deal in Buffalo.
Floyd, 30, recorded nine sacks last season in an otherwise down year for the Rams. But he has gone back-to-back-to-back with successful seasons in terms of getting to the quarterback, as the former Chicago Bears first-round pick has been good for 10.5, 9.5 and the aforementioned nine sacks in the last three years ... and of course, a Super Bowl win in L.A.
The Rams had a payroll decision and made it; Floyd signed a four-year, $64 million contract with the Rams in 2021 with an average annual salary of $16 million. ... and now the Bills get a steal, a proven difference-maker and Von insurance.
