DeAndre Hopkins Bills Trade Dead? Cardinals GM Shuts Down Rumors

The Arizona Cardinals were certainly trade happy during the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday. But on the surface, the topic of DeAndre Hopkins and the Buffalo Bills appeared to not be a part of the internal discussion.

With the way things have piled up in the days leading up to the start of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday, it wasn't even a question in anyone's mind.

The Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins clearly share a mutual interest in joining forces. A spokesperson for both sides and Bills linebacker Von Miller has made sure everyone is aware of this, leading to speculation that a deal would be made in the first round.

The Cardinals were certainly trade happy on Thursday, but not with Hopkins involved as expected. In fact, Arizona general manager Monti Ossenfort made sure to silence the speculation involving his star receiver before it could build further.

"I don't foresee that happening," Ossenfort said of a potential trade. "I don't know what is going to happen here in the next couple of days. Right now I don't foresee that happening, no."

But after leaving at least some optimism for a potential trade, he made sure to make his message a bit clearer.

"DeAndre is a Cardinal," Ossenfort said. "So DeAndre is a Cardinal and we're moving forward."

For now, Miller's dreams of joining forces with his friend and offseason workout partner appear to be crushed.

"We got a lot of talent over there man, but I think I think DeAndre Hopkins would put it over the top," Miller said recently on The Voncast. "So I think that would be huge for us to get a guy like Nuk, to get a guy like DeAndre Hopkins man.

Maybe the Cardinals take an offer they can't refuse, but Ossenfort made his side clear. Still, there's a lot of draft time left this weekend. So in the words of Miller ...

"We just have to wait and see because things happen," he said.
