Longtime Bills Assistant Jim Salgado Lands New College Job
Former Buffalo Bills assistant coach Jim Salgado has a new job, once again in the college ranks.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns hired Salgado as their new defensive coordinator on Friday. He will work under head coach Michael Desmoreaux, who is entering his third season at the helm.
Salgado joined the Bills as a defensive assistant in 2017, the same year they hired Sean McDermott as their new head coach. He was promoted to nickels coach in 2020 and safeties coach in 2022, his final year with the team as the Bills fired him after the season.
Last year, Salgado took a job with Mel Tucker's Michigan State Spartans, but not for long. Michigan State fired Tucker in September after sexual harassment allegations came to light, leaving his staff to take opportunities elsewhere.
Salgado took the chance to get back in the NFL, as he joined the Washington Commanders on an interim basis following the firing of defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brett Vieselmeyer.

Salgado replaces LaMar Morgan, whom the Michigan Wolverines hired as a defensive backs coach earlier in the offseason, as Louisiana's defensive coordinator.
